99 Word Prompt: Trees

May 16: Flash Fiction Challenge

Driven by stress, he went to a nearby forest.  He found a trailhead, entered the cathedral of trees, and walked quickly through the verdant surroundings while looking for something unknown.

He finally came to a large ring of redwood trees growing from the edge of an old stump.  He stepped into the circle, sat down, closed his eyes, and grounded himself into the earth.  Slowly he relaxed, became unburdened, and was silently thankful for the sacred space he had found.

He then opened his eyes, looked straight up at the crown of treetops, and imagined them as a steeple.
