(A 99 word flash fiction short story prompted by Carrot Ranch and inspired by the recent movie El Camino. Link below.)
“Nothing like the open road,” the motorist said to himself as he looked across the earth toned desert expanse. “A chance to leave the city and clear my head.”
He admired the vistas as he drove purposefully and then a particularly large rock formation caught his attention. Looks like the right place, he thought to himself.
He turned off the road, pulled up to the large rocks, and hid his car from the road. “Yep, nothing like the great outdoors,” he said as he opened the trunk and pulled out a shovel that was next to a dead body.

Hmm. He may have opened up a new path for himself for sure. Keep an eye on the rearview.

A sinister road trip with a chipper murderer. Good detour into darkness, Robert.

Thank you, Charli! I was inspired by the movie El Camino. I was also feeling a bit nostalgic because my family owned a couple of Chevy El Caminos when I was growing up.
